Olympic scandals?!

After the singer corruption at the Beijing Olympics, there is another scandal reported. It seems that all the hostesses were examined naked and being measured like animals. One world, one dream. To hell with it! How can you say that when your regime is oppressing millions of people?

I stayed up till 4 last night because I really wanted to see the men's 100m first round stage. It is incredible what those guys can accomplice. I really hope there will be no doping like with Gatlin back in 2006. Ok back to the race. Both Bolt and Powell won their first round and quarter finals. Gay was very weak. Maybe he can step it up but I have my doubts. Personally I hope Powell will get the tittle but I think Bolt will win it. Both have their strong and weak spots. Powell is a fast starter and has the power but he is known for badly handeling the pressure in major events. Bolt is a rather slow started because of his hight (even though I thought he was only a little bit taller than Powell?) but he is the man in form (he is the world record holder). I know Powell beat his ass in the Jamaican trials but how indicative can that be? Trials are not the same as the Olympics so maybe he didn't want to take any risks back then. Plus I am sure the admosphere can raise your level even higher. The adrenaline those guy must be feeling... So if Powell wants to win, he must have a good start and controle his nerves. Both are great, personally I prefer Powell (no idea why btw) but Bolt deserves it too. Hope it will be an interesting race tomorrow and not an anti-climax with two false starts and the elimination of one of them. Like Jon Drummond during the 2003 World Championship. Y'all remember those images? He contested that he did not false start, repeatedly shouting "I did not move". He delayed competition for almost an hour by refusing to leave the Paris track where the meet was being held. He protested for a period of time by lying down on the track. He eventually left the track of his own volition, reportedly in tears.

And turns out he indeed did not move! Poor guy. I felt really bad for him seeing those images back then. Not really a fan of the false start rule. They should go back to the old rule when the runner only gets eliminated when he false starts twice. Now every player gets eliminated the second false start, even if he didn't cause the first false start.

So the Olympics ain't going that good for our Belgians. I hope Lansink can get us a medal at show jumping. He has a good horse so with some luck, he can get bronze or maybe silver. Or maybe even the Belgian soccer team can get a medal? They have to play Italy in the quarter finals tomorrow.

But my attention goes to basketball. Always loved the game and this year the team is back on track, or so it seems. Tomorrow they have to play Spain. Shouldn't be too hard. Okay they have 4 NBA players in their team but still, the Americans are just one class better.
